About Children North East Fathers Plus
Through 'Fathers Plus' and other programmes Children North East have been working since 1997 with agencies across early years, education, health, youth offending and other settings to support positive engagement with men.
The Children North East Fathers Plus service aims to increase the engagement of men in children’s services, both as service users and as workers. The service challenges inequality in services which limits support for fathers and male carers.
Fathers Plus promotes change by providing training, support and resources, on a national basis, to managers and staff as well as strategic and policy support and advice to senior managers.
The service runs programmes with family men and their families to demonstrate effective inclusive practice in schools, children’s centres, prisons and other community settings.
This work with family men in schools and children’s centres has achieved national recognition.
We have facilitated men to make positive life changes for themselves and their families and access relevant support
Hundreds of workers who have attended the practitioner networks we manage across the country say they are more likely to include men as a result,
Staff in hundreds of settings who have benefited from our training and resources now feel more able to engage positively with men.
We have influenced key local and national policies.
We have held two national events which between them attracted over 12,000 visitors
IncludingMen.com provides a means for professionals developing work in this emerging field to share good practice, identify barriers and opportunities and influence policy
You can find out more about why there is a need for agencies to work to include men by searching the resources section of this site
