The North East Father Work Forum and Practitioner Networks
Between 2001 and 2006 over thirty meetings were held attended by over 320 practitioners from a wide range of setting s across the North East Region and beyond.
The original forum was funded by the Bernard van Leer foundation in the Netherlands. This funding has now come to an end and we are seeking new sources of funding which will allow the continuation of the practitioner network at a regional level.
In the meantime, Children North East Fathers Plus has been working with a number of individual local authorities and other partners to develop local practitioner networks.
At present we support local practitioner networks in Durham, Northumberland, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Blackburn with Darwen, and Hull.
Networks are a useful way of enabling local workers to share good practice, identify gaps/duplications in services and support workforce development..
Why have a father worker network?
The father work forum provides an opportunity for workers to share information about good practice, training and resources. Through the forum workers come together to influence the development of policy as it affects the inclusion of fathers in the lives of their children.
You can find out about useful resources, gaps in services, policy developments and events and let others know about the skills and knowledge in your organisation.
